Build your own CLI tools or how to allow AI agents to troubleshoot production issues 2026
Since I started coding, I've always written tools to better understand the OS APIs or the runtime services. With .NET, there is now a canonical way to build CLI tools that are easily deployed, updated and could be used to streamline your CI, monitoring and troubleshooting pipelines. With the rise of AI, it is time to let agents troubleshoot dev/production issues for us. You will see how CLI toos could change the game.
This session guides you step by step to build your own CLI tools in C#. Next, we will dig into the different APIs and nuget packages available to you for performance counters, direct communication with the .NET diagnostics services for GC monitoring and memory dump analysis. Last but not least, you will see how easy it is to make AI agent use them during your investigations.
Expect minimal theory, a lot of code with tips and tricks to improve your applications performances, monitoring and stability.
